While awake...

Don't worry dear and vast readership - I haven't attempted to traverse the Grand Canyon quite yet.
I have, on the other hand, been quite busy with my "entrepeneurship" (imagine G.W. pronoucing that word) and am feeling rather content with myself. That means that when I have time off I don't mind nursing (mind you not too long because of the temperature factor, eh) a glass of chilled white whilst reflecting over the latest thoughts people I have never met have produced. Oh well, that last one was probably not even a proper sentence. But I am a bit disturbed tonight as I learned today that my favourite English teacher in high school now is a hardcore social democrat. What can I say? He loved my review of "Dead Poets Society" and taught me how to decipher a fast paced English weather forecast on TV, and he was the first true Anglophile AND Francophile that I ever knew (I don't count my French teacher because I never liked her, and she looked like a rodent).
In conclusion, my physical fitness regime will resume when the new week is here. Until then, partay!

While awake...

Misspent Life (hmm, perhaps not so misspent after all since he's had time to read all these Great Books... sigh!) derived his inspiration for creating a favorite list of books from a certain StephenEsque. This in turn inspired Outer Life to refer to a book he should have liked but didn't.

So why am I parroting all this?
Simply because I hang my head in shame. In shame of not having read nearly as many livres d'important.
I imagine myself sitting in the reading room of my future chateau in Scotland, rain pouring down the stained glass windows, wrapped in a warm blanket, sipping some nice port, fireplace crackling, king charles spaniel warming my feet, possible children asleep, beloved husband nearby and preferably also reading, all bills are paid, and no laundry to be done. I am of course reading Anna Karenina or War and Peace, or some other very important book that I have never read before.

Until then, until that moment will indeed arrive, I am quite comfortably huddling up here in Santa Monica with a nice selection of science fiction books (the more miserable the plot the better) and a glass of chilled white.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I spent most of my adolescence daydreaming...

and see where all those dreams lead me! Ha haa!

While awake...

...many hurried moments have come and gone.

In Search of Fellow Grand Canyon Hikers

Now I dream about hiking the Bright Angel Trail of Grand Canyon from the south rim to the north rim. Ideally I would like to hike with someone who is very experienced and knowledgeable. I am willing to train and get in good enough shape to do the hike in 3 nights and 4 days. I am not squeamish nor do I expect anyone to carry my load. What I do envision is a great outdoor experience that will extend into the the inexperienced naturalist inside me. I want to see and learn more about nature here in the West, and preferably with someone who has a lot of experience.

Feel free to contact me if you have a serious interest in hiking the Grand Canyon and/or you are an experienced hiker and have hiked the Bright Angel Trail from the south rim to the north rim.
